Eddy, in the Mac app

# Open your homework with Eddy

Bring the actual worksheet. In Eddy, click Open a file and pick your homework: a PDF, a Word file, slides, a spreadsheet or a photo of the page. It opens as a page you and Eddy both see. Eddy reads the questions, writes a short hint beside the one you are on, and checks what you write. It gives hints first and never just says the answer.

Hints beside the question

## A hint where you need it.

Say let's look at question 3, or just start on it. Eddy reads the question on your page and writes a short hint right beside it, in handwriting, like a tutor leaning over your desk: which one changes on the Moon? Ask for more and the hints get bigger. The answer is yours to write.

[Guide: Work on your homework with Eddy](https://docs.duckyhelper.com/eddy/homework/)

Open it three ways

Open a file on Eddy's start page, or Cmd + O. The + in the bar: Work on it with Eddy, then Open a file or Take a photo. Or drop or paste a file, or a Google link, into Eddy.

A photo of a paper worksheet

Take a photo of a page of your homework and it opens the same way, ready to write on.

A Google Doc from class

Paste the link. The file has to be shared with anyone who has the link, so Eddy can open it.

You answer, Eddy checks

## You write it. Eddy checks it.

Write your answer on the page, by typing or with the pen. Eddy reads what you wrote and tells you if it holds up: yes, mass stays the same on the Moon. If it does not, you get the next hint, not the answer.

How homework with Eddy goes.

1. 1. Open your file Open a file, Cmd + O, or take a photo.
2. 2. Start on a question Eddy reads it with you.
3. 3. Get a hint beside it Short, written next to the question. Never the answer.
4. 4. Write your answer Eddy checks it and tells you why.

Files up to 50 MB. Old.doc,.ppt and.xls files are refused with how to save them in the newer format.

## Hints first, on purpose.

An answer you copy is gone by the test. A hint that gets you to write it yourself is not. That is why Eddy writes the hint beside the question and leaves the answer to you, on every file you open. ## How to use it

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I upload my homework PDF to an AI tutor?

Yes. In Eddy, click Open a file, or press Cmd + O, and pick your PDF. It opens as a page you and Eddy both see and write on. Eddy reads the questions, writes a hint beside the one you are on and checks what you write.

### Will Eddy just give me the answers?

No. Eddy gives hints first, writes a short hint beside the question, and checks what you wrote. It never just says the answer. If you are still stuck, the next hint goes a bit further, and the writing stays yours.

### What files can I open?

PDFs, Word files, slides, spreadsheets and photos, up to 50 MB each, plus Google files shared with anyone who has the link. Old.doc,.ppt and.xls files are refused, with how to save them again. Charts, SmartArt and video inside slides are left out.

### Can it help with an essay in Google Docs?

Yes, if the doc is shared with anyone who has the link: paste the link into Eddy and it opens as a page. Eddy reads it with you, answers your questions about it and gives hints, but the writing stays yours. [Essay writing help](https://duckyhelper.com/for/essay-writing-help/) has more.

### Does it work on a school Chromebook?

Not right now: DuckyHelper is a Mac app (macOS 14 or later, Apple silicon). There is no Chromebook or web version. On a Mac, open a file from your Downloads or Drive in the Eddy tab, or a photo of a paper worksheet.
