# It draws on your real screen

In the DuckyHelper Mac app, Ducky does not just tell you where the mistake is. Its round blue pointer flies to the spot on your real screen and draws while it talks: a circle around the slip, an arrow to the next step, a box, a label, one mark at a time like a pen. It works over any app, your worksheet, a PDF or a website.

Marks

## One mark at a time, like a pen.

Ask Ducky to show you and it draws as it explains: circles, arrows, boxes, highlights, underlines, labels and freehand lines, numbered when it walks you through steps in order. The marks are drawn, nothing is clicked, and they clear when the lesson moves on, or when you say clear the screen.

Marks stay put

Scroll the page and each mark sticks to what it was drawn on.

Numbered walkthroughs

For a method with steps, the marks come numbered: 1 here, 2 there, in the order you would do them.

A spotlight on busy screens

On a crowded screen, Ducky can dim everything except one area, with a short note. The lit area still works, and the dim lifts at your next click.

In the margin

## A hint written next to your work.

Ask for the next step or a fix, and Ducky writes it by hand in the margin, beside the exact line it is about: a few words, or the math itself, written left to right. You do the fixing. Ducky checks.

Pointing

## Whenever it says this, it points.

Ask where something is, or what this is, and the blue pointer flies to it and labels it. You can point too: hold fn and command and trace over the part you mean.

## Stuck? Press fn. Ask where.

How a fix goes on a Mac.

1. 1. Press fn on your work Your worksheet, a PDF, a website: whatever is on your screen.
2. 2. Ask where you went wrong Ducky looks at the exact page you are on.
3. 3. It circles the slip and explains The pointer flies there and marks it while Ducky talks.
4. 4. Ask for the steps Numbered marks walk you through the method, one at a time, and you do each one.

Drawing on your screen is the Mac app. It needs Screen recording, and it works over any app.

## Drawing it as it explains.

A picture that appears while the words are said is easier to follow than either one alone. That is why Ducky draws on the thing you are looking at instead of describing it. In the Eddy tab, Eddy draws on its own blackboard. The learning science behind it: [Draw it as you explain](https://duckyhelper.com/research/principles/draw-it-as-you-explain/).

## Frequently asked questions

### Can an AI draw on my screen while it explains?

Yes, in the DuckyHelper Mac app. Press fn and ask, and Ducky's pointer flies to the spot on your real screen and draws circles, arrows, boxes, highlights and labels while it talks. It works over any app and never clicks anything unless you clearly ask it to.

### Does it change my document?

No. The marks are drawn in a layer over your screen, not in your file. Nothing is clicked or typed. The marks clear when the lesson moves on, or when you say clear the screen.

### Which apps does it work in?

Any app on your Mac: a browser, a PDF viewer, a spreadsheet, a code editor, a slide deck. It draws on the main display, the one with the mouse, while the pill is open.

### Does it work on a Chromebook?

Not right now: DuckyHelper is a Mac app (macOS 14 or later, Apple silicon). There is no Chromebook or web version. On a Mac, Ducky draws on your real screen, and in the Eddy tab, Eddy explains on its own blackboard and can write on your homework file.

### Will it just write the answer on my work?

It is built to teach: it marks where the slip is, writes a hint next to the line, and waits for you to fix it. Ask for the steps and it numbers them so you do each one. [Hints first, not answers](https://duckyhelper.com/features/hints-not-answers/) explains how.

## More features

### Press fn in any app on a Mac and ask about exactly what is on your screen

On a Mac, press fn in any app and DuckyHelper sees what you see, so you can ask about the exact problem in front of you. Hold fn and command to point.

### Learn an app inside the app: Ducky shows each step, waits for you, and moves on when you did it

On a Mac, DuckyHelper teaches you an app inside the app itself: it shows where to click, waits for you to do each step, and moves on when you did.

### Grey ghost letters at your cursor in any Mac app; type over them and fix the slips yourself

DuckyHelper's typing coach puts grey ghost letters at your cursor in any Mac app. Type over them; a slip is marked in red so you can fix it.

### Eddy writes and draws step by step in time with its voice, then hands you a your-turn

Eddy works it out on a blackboard, writing and drawing step by step in time with its voice, then gives you a your-turn and checks your answer.

### Write your working and get it checked line by line, or answer a quick check on Eddy's whiteboard

Write your working and DuckyHelper checks it: the first wrong line marked with why on a Mac, and Eddy's whiteboard for a quick drawing or check.

### A picture made for your question, labelled as Eddy explains; tap any part to ask about it

Ask Eddy to show you and a picture made for your question comes into focus, labelled as Eddy explains. Tap any part to ask about it, or change it.
