# DuckyHelper on a Chromebook

Canonical: https://duckyhelper.com/for/chromebooks/
Updated: 2026-10-01

Yes. DuckyHelper works on a Chromebook in the browser at app.duckyhelper.com, with nothing to install. Click Talk to Ducky and a voice panel opens beside the page. Click Look at my screen and share a tab, a window or your whole screen, and Ducky draws its marks on the preview. Drawing on your real screen, the fn key and Ducky clicking along with you need the Mac app.

## Start in a minute

1. Open [app.duckyhelper.com](https://app.duckyhelper.com) in Chrome. Sign in, or create an account; the Free plan needs no card.
2. Click **Talk to Ducky**. When Chrome asks, allow the microphone.
3. Click **Look at my screen** and pick a tab, a window or the entire screen. You choose exactly what Ducky sees, and you can stop sharing any time.
4. Ask out loud, or type in the field if you can't talk right now.

## Light enough for a school Chromebook

Nothing heavy runs on the Chromebook. The page draws the dashboard and the cards; Ducky's voice, its thinking, the math and the grading all run online. We tested it with Chrome slowed down 4 and 6 times, at 1366 x 768 and 1280 x 800: the first load was about 590 KB and showed in 0.5 to 0.6 seconds, its scripts used about 9 MB of memory, and moving between sections ran at 53 to 59 frames a second. Everything works from the keyboard.

## A session in the browser

Your math homework is open in one tab and DuckyHelper in another. You share the homework tab and ask, "why is my answer to number 3 wrong?" Ducky looks at the shared tab, circles the line on its preview, and opens a worked-steps card. Then it gives you two practice questions in a quiz. What you got right goes on your dashboard, the same one you'd see in the Mac app.

In the browser, the browser itself asks before Ducky can use your microphone or see anything you share. Ducky sees only what you share, for as long as you share it, and the web app can't act on your screen. Sharing a screen works in desktop Chrome, Edge and Safari and on ChromeOS.

## One account everywhere

- Your plan, memory, progress and flashcards belong to your account, so they are the same in the browser and on a Mac.
- Have a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 14 or later too? The Mac app adds everything in the right-hand column above. See [DuckyHelper for Mac](https://duckyhelper.com/for/mac/).
- Plans and talking time are the same everywhere; see [Pricing](https://duckyhelper.com/pricing/).

## Frequently asked questions

### Does DuckyHelper work on a Chromebook?

Yes. Open app.duckyhelper.com in Chrome, sign in and click Talk to Ducky. Share a tab, a window or your screen with Look at my screen, and Ducky can see your work and mark up the preview. There's nothing to install.

### Can I use DuckyHelper on a school Chromebook?

It runs in the browser, so it works if your school lets you use the microphone and screen sharing in Chrome. Chrome asks before either one turns on. Your school's rules about AI and devices still come first.

### Does the web app have everything the Mac app has?

No. In the browser you get talking, quizzes, tests, worked steps, graphs, pictures, the whiteboard, memory and the dashboard. Drawing on your real screen, the fn key, tutorials that follow your clicks, the pronunciation card, simulations and the code runner need the Mac app.

### Will DuckyHelper slow down my Chromebook?

It's built to be light. Ducky's voice, thinking and math run online, not on the device. With Chrome slowed down 6 times in our tests, the first load was about 590 KB, it showed in about half a second, and it used about 9 MB of memory for its scripts.
