DuckyHelper gives a homeschooled student a voice tutor for any subject while the parent teaches another child or plans the next lesson. The student presses fn and asks about whatever is on screen; Ducky explains, draws on it, runs science simulations, shows maps and timelines, and gives short tests at the right level. A dashboard and learning reports show the parent what was studied and how it went.

## One morning, three subjects

| Subject | What the student does | What Ducky shows |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Physics | Asks why a longer pendulum swings slower | A pendulum simulation in the pill: change the length and see the period change, after predicting first |
| History | Reads about the age of exploration | A world map with Magellan's route, then a timeline of the voyages with an era band |
| Chemistry | Gets stuck on a titration question | A titration simulation with a live pH curve, then two quiz questions |
| Math | Works through a page of problems | Checks each line on the scratchpad by computing and marks the first wrong one |

In the browser, Ducky can make a test of 3 to 10 questions at a level it sets, such as "grade 7" or "beginner", so the same tool works for a younger and an older child; on a Mac it gives quick quizzes of up to 5 questions. What each child shows they understand goes on their own dashboard.

## Keeping track as the parent

- **Dashboard.** Time learned, streak, topics and mastery, test scores, and a gallery of what Ducky made, for each learner.
- **Learning reports.** A learner can set up reports for a parent or teacher: minutes, sessions and scores for the week, counted from what really happened, in plain words. The student chooses to share them.
- **Under 13.** For a child's account, a weekly learning report goes to the parent's email automatically.
- **Your materials.** Give Ducky the worksheets, reading lists and notes you use, and it keeps them in memory so it can teach from them.

## Setting it up for a family

- Each child needs their own account; accounts can't be shared. That keeps each child's memory, progress and tests separate.
- Teens 13 to 17 need a parent's or guardian's OK. Children under 13 need a parent's verifiable consent first; see the [Children's Privacy Notice](https://duckyhelper.com/legal/children/).
- Use it on any family computer in the browser at [app.duckyhelper.com](https://app.duckyhelper.com), including Chromebooks, or as the Mac app. The simulations, maps, timelines and scratchpad above are in the Mac app; the browser has quizzes, tests, worked steps, graphs, pictures and the whiteboard.
- There is no family plan right now. See [Pricing](https://duckyhelper.com/pricing/) for the plans and how much talking time each one includes.

## What it won't do

- It doesn't follow a curriculum of its own or plan your year. You decide what to teach; Ducky helps with whatever is on screen.
- Its test grades and reports are estimates, not official grades or transcripts.
- It can be wrong. Check facts that matter against a good source, and teach children to tell Ducky when something looks off.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can DuckyHelper be used for homeschooling?

Yes. It is a voice tutor for any subject, so a homeschooled student can ask about any lesson on screen. It adds simulations, maps, timelines, quizzes and tests, and a dashboard and reports help the parent see progress.

### Does DuckyHelper come with a homeschool curriculum?

No. Ducky doesn't have its own curriculum. It works with the materials you choose: open a lesson, a worksheet or a book on screen, or give Ducky your files to keep in memory, and it tutors from there.

### Can young children use DuckyHelper?

Children under 13 can use DuckyHelper only after a parent gives verifiable consent through the parent sign-up. The parent chooses what's on and gets a weekly learning report. The Children's Privacy Notice explains what we collect and the parent's rights.

### Can I see what my child studied?

Yes. Each learner's dashboard shows time learned, topics, mastery and test scores. For a child under 13, the parent gets a weekly report by email. Older learners can choose to send reports to a parent.
