# An AI physics tutor you can watch work

DuckyHelper is an AI physics tutor that shows you why things move the way they do. Ask why a pendulum keeps time and Eddy opens a pendulum you can drag and time yourself. Ask why you feel lighter in an elevator and it works the forces through with real numbers. It explains out loud, draws on the blackboard, and gives hints before answers, in the DuckyHelper Mac app.

One question, shown

## Ask why. Then try it.

Physics questions have answers you can test. Two from our films, worked the way the tutor works them.

### Why does a pendulum keep time?

Eddy opens a pendulum you can play with. Drag the start angle from 25 degrees down to 10 and one swing there and back barely changes, 2.03 seconds to 2.01. For small swings the time depends on the length of the string, not on how far it swings, which is why a clock can count on it.

Simulations

## Pull it, let go, read the numbers

Ask how a pendulum, a projectile or a circuit works and you can get a small simulation to play with: drag the ball, move the sliders, and read the numbers as they change. Change one thing at a time and you find the rule yourself, which is the part that sticks.

In Eddy and in the Mac pill

In the Eddy tab the simulation opens on Eddy's desk while Eddy talks you through it. With Ducky it opens in the pill, next to the homework you are working on.

Graphs you can move

Ask to graph position or velocity against time and you get a graph you can hover, pan and zoom, with sliders for the letters.

Forces and steps

## Every force, every step

Ask for a problem step by step and you get 3 to 6 steps, one move each, with the math: draw the forces, write Newton's second law, solve. Ask Eddy to explain it on the blackboard and it writes and draws in time with its voice, then hands you a your turn problem.

On your own worksheet (Mac app)

Press fn and ask about the problem on your screen. Ducky draws numbered marks on your worksheet for each step, circles the quantity it means, and writes the next line in the margin.

Hints, then the answer

Stuck halfway? Ask for a hint. On a Mac, Hint opens a ladder: a nudge, a bigger hint, the worked step, then the answer if you still want it.

## Physics study guides

### All physics guides

Motion, forces, energy, waves and circuits, each with a worked example.

### Newton's laws of motion

Inertia, F = ma and equal and opposite forces, with examples.

### Work and energy

Where energy goes when something speeds up, climbs or stops.

### Projectile motion

Split the motion into across and up, then solve each.

### Ohm's law and circuits

Voltage, current and resistance in series and parallel.

## Ask Eddy

Say one of these out loud. Eddy picks how to show it: words, a picture or the board.

What is E = mc² saying?

Show me how a projectile moves

Why is the sky blue?

## Frequently asked questions

### Can an AI tutor help with physics problems?

Yes. Say or paste the problem, or open your worksheet in Eddy, and ask for it step by step. You get each move with the math, a hint before the answer, and a graph or a simulation when seeing it helps.

### What kinds of simulations can I play with?

Small sandboxes such as a pendulum, a projectile and a circuit: you drag, move sliders and read the numbers. They open on Eddy's desk in the Eddy tab and in Ducky's pill. Ask for one by describing what you want to see move.

### Does it explain the idea or only the math?

Both. Ask why and Eddy explains the idea out loud, often with a picture or on the blackboard, before the equations. Then it checks the idea stuck with a your turn question or a quick quiz.

### Does it work in a browser?

Not right now: DuckyHelper is a Mac app (macOS 14 or later, Apple silicon), with no Chromebook or web version. In the app, Eddy teaches in its own tab, and Ducky draws on your own worksheet on screen.

## More subjects

### Math: worked steps, moving graphs, and hints before the answer

An AI math tutor that explains one move at a time: worked steps, graphs you can move, hints before answers. In the Mac app, right over your homework.

### Biology: labelled pictures you can tap, read and quiz yourself on

An AI biology tutor that answers with labelled pictures: ask how blood clots or how muscles move, tap any part to ask more, then quiz yourself. On a Mac.

### Chemistry: see the atoms, then work the equations step by step

An AI chemistry tutor that shows what atoms are doing: labelled pictures of bonds, steps for every equation, quizzes and flashcards. In the DuckyHelper Mac app.

### History: labelled pictures, maps, timelines and sources you can check

An AI history tutor that shows the past: labelled pictures, maps and timelines you can explore, and sources read with you and cited. In the DuckyHelper Mac app.

### Writing: feedback on your own draft, never a ghostwriter

An AI writing tutor that reads your own draft with you, asks what you mean and points to what is unclear, and leaves the writing to you. On a Mac.

### Languages: speak out loud, get scored, and keep what you miss

An AI language tutor you practice with out loud: hear a word in syllables, say it back, get each word scored, and keep what you miss as flashcards.

### Computer science: run it, step through it, and write it yourself

An AI computer science tutor: run your code against tests, step through it line by line to see the variables change, and get hints instead of the solution.

### Music: chords on a labelled keyboard, strings, scales and rhythm

An AI music theory tutor that shows the sound: why a minor chord sounds sad on a labelled keyboard, how a string makes a note, rhythm in numbers. On a Mac.

### Art: perspective you can change, and paintings explained part by part

An AI art tutor that shows how pictures work: perspective drawn on a picture you can change, paintings explained part by part, art history read with you.
