For math homework

Math homework, checked line by line

DuckyHelper helps with math homework by checking your own working, not just the final answer. Write your steps on the scratchpad or show Ducky your paper, and it checks each line with a computer algebra system, lights up the first line that went wrong, and tells you what to look at. It can also work a problem as clear steps, draw interactive graphs, and write next to your work on screen.

Find the mistake yourself

Most wrong answers come from one slipped line. Here is how Ducky handles it. You are solving 3(x−2)=2x+53(x-2)=2x+5 and you wrote this on the scratchpad in the pill:

  1. 3(x−2)=2x+53(x-2)=2x+5
  2. 3x−2=2x+53x-2=2x+5
  3. x=7x=7

You press Check my work. Ducky checks each line by computing. Line 1 is fine. Line 2 lights up with a short note: "Look at what the 3 multiplies." It doesn't give you the answer. You fix line 2 yourself, and the rest follows.

The fixed working

Problem Solve 3(x−2)=2x+53(x-2)=2x+5.

  1. Multiply the 3 into both terms in the brackets.
    3x−6=2x+53x-6=2x+5
  2. Subtract 2x2x from both sides.
    x−6=5x-6=5
  3. Add 6 to both sides.
    x=11x=11
  4. Check by putting 11 back in: both sides come to 27.
    3(11−2)=27=2(11)+53(11-2)=27=2(11)+5

Answer x=11x=11

More ways Ducky shows math

  • Worked steps. Ask "show me how" and a card lays the problem out in 3 to 6 steps, one move each, with a sentence saying what and why. You can keep a steps card as a note.
  • Interactive graphs. Ask to see y=x2−3y=x^2-3 and y=2xy=2x together. Hover for values, pan and zoom, and see where they meet.
  • Writing on your screen. Working in a PDF or on a website? Ducky writes the next line by hand in the margin next to your work, like a tutor with a pen.
  • Hint ladder. Stuck before you even start? Open hints one at a time: a nudge, a bigger hint, the worked step, and the answer last.
  • Quick practice. After you get one right, Ducky can quiz you on two more like it, with answers you type and a live preview of the math.

What it won't do

  • It won't fill in your homework for you or submit it. It is built to have you do the steps.
  • Follow your teacher's rules about AI, and don't use it on quizzes or tests unless you're allowed to (AI Use & Academic Integrity).
  • Ducky checks many math steps by computing, but it can still misread a messy photo or a hand-drawn line. If a mark looks wrong, say so.

Frequently asked questions

Can DuckyHelper check my math homework?

Yes. Write your working on the scratchpad, or show Ducky your page, and it checks each line with a computer algebra system instead of guessing. It marks the first wrong line with a short note on what to look at, so you can fix it yourself.

Will DuckyHelper just solve the problem for me?

It can show worked steps when you ask, but it is built to teach: it asks what you think first and offers hints one at a time before the full answer. Your teacher's rules about AI come first.

Can Ducky draw graphs?

Yes. Ask for any function of x and Ducky draws an interactive graph in the pill, with labelled points. You can hover for values, pan and zoom. It is useful for slopes, intersections, parabolas and trends.

Does it work with my online math homework site?

Ducky sees whatever is on your Mac screen, so it can look at a question on a homework website and talk you through it. It won't type or submit answers for you.

Try asking Ducky

  • “Check my work on the scratchpad and show me the first wrong line.”
  • “Graph y equals x squared minus 3 and y equals 2x.”
  • “Give me a hint for this one, just a small one.”
  • “Give me two more problems like this.”
