How it works on a real assignment
Stuck on question 4 of a biology worksheet
- You press fn and say: "I don't get question 4, what's a chloroplast doing here?"
- Ducky looks at your screen, flies its pointer to the diagram and labels the chloroplast and the cell wall, one mark at a time.
- Instead of the answer, it asks you what plants need sunlight for. If you're not sure, a hint card opens: first a nudge, then a bigger hint.
- You answer out loud. Ducky tells you what was right and what to add.
- Before you move on, it asks two quick quiz questions in the pill to check it stuck.
One tutor for every subject
| Subject | What you might see |
|---|---|
| Math | Worked steps one line at a time, interactive graphs, and your own lines checked by computing |
| Science | Labels on a diagram, or a simulation you can play with: a pendulum, a projectile, a circuit, a titration with a live pH curve |
| History and geography | A map with routes and pins, a timeline you can scroll, a short knowledge card about a person or event |
| English | Notes written in the margin of your draft, and a dictionary card for a hard word |
| Anything | A picture, or an animated drawing that builds up one idea at a time while Ducky talks |
On a Chromebook or any computer, use the browser at app.duckyhelper.com: share the tab with your worksheet and Ducky marks up its preview. Quizzes, tests, worked steps, graphs, knowledge cards, pictures and the whiteboard work there. The hint ladder, simulations, maps and timelines, and watching while you work are in the Mac app.
It watches while you work (Mac)
Ask Ducky to keep an eye on your worksheet while you try the next few problems. It looks at that part of your screen when it changes and stays quiet unless you seem stuck or it sees the mistake you asked it to watch for. Say "stop" when you're done.
Hand Ducky the worksheet or class notes ahead of time and it keeps them in memory, so later you can ask "what did the notes say about this?" You can see and delete everything it keeps in Settings > Memory.
What it won't do
- It won't do your homework for you. Ducky is set up to ask what you think first, give hints before answers and have you do the steps.
- It won't finish, submit or post work in your place.
- Your school's rules about AI come first. If you're not sure what's allowed, ask your teacher. See AI Use & Academic Integrity.
- It can be wrong. Check anything that matters against your textbook or your teacher.
Frequently asked questions
Does DuckyHelper just give me the answer?
No. Ducky is built to help you understand: it asks what you think, gives a hint ladder that goes from a nudge to a bigger hint to the worked step, and leaves the answer for last. It also checks your own steps so you can find your mistake.
What subjects can DuckyHelper help with?
Any subject. Because Ducky sees your screen, it can help with math, science, history, languages, essays or whatever you're working on. It has tools for each, like graphs and simulations for science and maps and timelines for history.
Can it see my homework if it's a PDF or a website?
Yes. Ducky sees your screen, so it works with a PDF, a website, a school portal or a document. For paper homework, take a picture and open it on your Mac, or give it to Ducky's memory.
Is using DuckyHelper for homework cheating?
Using it to understand and practice is learning, and Ducky won't hand in work for you. Follow your school's and teacher's rules about AI, and don't use it on tests unless you're allowed to. Our AI Use & Academic Integrity guide explains more.
