Mac app 0.7: type to Ducky, any time
Rolling out now as an automatic update. If your Mac has an older version, DuckyHelper downloads 0.7 in the background and installs it when you quit, or choose Check for Updates in the menu bar duck. The same notes are on the 0.7 release notes page.
- Type to Ducky. Ask by typing whenever you'd rather not talk. Ducky answers in writing, with the same boards, diagrams and quizzes, and you see it as it thinks.
- Free, simply. Every account starts with 3 minutes of live voice. After that, Free keeps going by typing, every day. Live voice is part of Plus.
- Clearer Connections. Google Calendar, Gmail and Docs say plainly what they can do, and show "Coming soon" until they're ready.
- Smaller fixes. DuckyHelper shows up as an Education app on your Mac, and lots of small polish.
Needs a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
Mac app 0.6: improvements and fixes
Released October 1, 2026, as an automatic update. The same notes are on the 0.6 release notes page.
- Groundwork for what's next. Changes inside the app that later updates build on.
Needs a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
Mac app 0.5: a calmer home and a darker pill
Released October 1, 2026, as an automatic update. The same notes are on the 0.5 release notes page.
- A new Today. One card to pick up where you left off, with one button to keep going. Your streak and this week sit beside it, then what's up next and your topics. Every tab now shares the same clean layout.
- The pill, darker. The warm charcoal from our emails, no grain, easier to read over anything on your screen.
- Your account, your call. Change your password, sign out on every device, export everything Ducky keeps, or delete your account, all in Settings > Account.
- Safer sign-in. Repeated wrong passwords slow down and then pause sign-in, and you get an email if someone tries.
- DuckyHelper in your browser. On a Chromebook or any computer, open app.duckyhelper.com and sign in with the same account.
Needs a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
The web app opens
October 1, 2026. DuckyHelper works in any browser at app.duckyhelper.com, made for Chromebooks:
- Your dashboard in the browser: time learned, streak, topics, tests, memory and your plan, with the same account as the Mac app.
- Talk to Ducky in a panel beside the page, out loud or by typing.
- Look at my screen: share a tab, a window or your whole screen, also on ChromeOS. Ducky draws its marks on the preview of what you shared.
- Light on the device: the voice, thinking and math run online, so it stays quick on a Chromebook.
Drawing on your real screen, the fn key and Ducky clicking along with you stay in the Mac app. See DuckyHelper for Chromebooks for the full list.
Mac app 0.4: the first public DuckyHelper
Released October 1, 2026 (build 4, a 14.3 MB download). The same notes are on the 0.4 release notes page.
Hold fn anywhere on your Mac, ask out loud, and Ducky looks at your screen and helps you work it out.
- Memory. Give Ducky your notes, worksheets, pictures and PDFs, or let it keep what matters from a session. Ask about them any time. See, search and delete everything Ducky remembers in Settings.
- Plans and credits. Free to start. Plus, Pro and Unlimited give you more talking each hour, every 5 hours and each week. Credits keep you going past a limit and last a year. See Pricing.
- One-tap top-ups. When talk time runs out, the pill shows $10, $25 and $50. Tap twice and keep talking.
- Settings. Your account, plan and billing, emails, memory, connections, reports and permissions in one place.
- Emails you choose. A weekly recap, a heads-up when flashcards are due, and learning reports for a parent or teacher if you want them. Switch any of them off.
- Updates on their own. New versions download in the background and install when you quit DuckyHelper, or right away with Restart to Update in the menu.
- Clear words when something breaks. If the internet drops, Ducky says so in plain words and picks up where it stopped.
Needs a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Get it from the download page.
How new versions reach you
You don't need to download the Mac app again to get a new version. It checks for updates by itself, downloads them in the background and installs them the next time you quit. To check now, click the duck in the menu bar and choose Check for Updates. The web app is always the newest version when you load it. Each new version gets its own section at the top of this page.
