Getting started
In your browser (Chromebook, Windows, any computer)
- Open app.duckyhelper.com. Sign in, or create an account.
- Click Talk to Ducky. A voice panel opens beside the page. Allow the microphone when your browser asks.
- Click Look at my screen and choose a tab, a window or your whole screen. Ducky sees only what you share.
- Ask out loud, or type. Ducky's marks appear on the preview of what you shared, and its cards appear beside it.
On a Mac
- Get the app from the download page (about 14 MB).
- Install it. Open the download and drag Ducky onto your Applications folder. If you open it straight from the download window, Ducky offers to move itself there: click Move.
- Open it. The first time, macOS asks if you want to open an app downloaded from the internet. Click Open.
- Sign in and allow permissions. A welcome window walks you through signing in and the four permissions, with a small helper that shows where to drag Ducky in System Settings.
- Press fn and ask. A small pill springs up at the bottom of your screen and listens. Press fn again, or click X, to put it away.
On a Mac, Ducky lives in the menu bar (the duck). From there you can Talk to Ducky, Open Dashboard, open Settings, Open Whiteboard, check permissions, turn on Launch at Login, check for updates or uninstall. To point at something yourself, hold fn + cmd and move the mouse: a blue trail follows, and Ducky sees what you pointed at.

Permissions, and why Ducky asks
In a browser, your browser asks for the microphone, and you pick what to share each time you click Look at my screen. On a Mac, the app asks for four permissions:
| Permission | What Ducky uses it for |
|---|---|
| Microphone | To hear you when you talk to Ducky in the pill. |
| Screen Recording | To see what you are looking at, so it can help with the exact problem in front of you. |
| Accessibility | To follow your clicks and typing in tutorials, and to click or type on your screen when it shows you how to do something. |
| Input Monitoring | To catch the fn key from any app. |
Check them any time in the menu bar duck > Permissions, or in DuckyHelper's Settings > Permissions. You can turn any of them off in System Settings > Privacy & Security. Without Accessibility, Ducky can't act on your screen at all.
Chromebooks and Windows
DuckyHelper works in the browser at app.duckyhelper.com, made for Chromebooks and fine on Windows PCs. It's light: Ducky's voice, thinking and math run online, not on your device. A few things need the Mac app: drawing on your real screen, the fn key, Ducky clicking or typing to show you, tutorials that follow your clicks in other apps, and the typing coach at your caret. The full list is on DuckyHelper for Chromebooks.
Privacy basics
- Your voice goes straight to OpenAI, which runs the conversation. We don't record or keep your audio.
- Pictures of your screen, or of what you share in the browser, go to OpenAI so Ducky can see what you're asking about. We don't keep them unless you or Ducky save one to memory. Close anything private before you ask Ducky to look.
- We keep your account, a written transcript and summary of each session, your progress, tests, flashcards and what is in Ducky's memory, so Ducky can pick up where you left off.
- We don't sell your information or share it for ads, and neither we nor OpenAI use it to train AI models.
Read the full Privacy Policy. To see, search or delete what Ducky remembers, open Settings > Memory. You can also turn memory off there.
Kids and teens
You need to be 13 or older to make your own account, and teens 13 to 17 need a parent's or guardian's OK. Children under 13 can use DuckyHelper only after a parent gives verifiable consent: the parent reads what we would collect, makes a parent account, chooses what is on and confirms with a small card check. The Children's Privacy Notice explains every step, and DuckyHelper for parents covers what Ducky does and doesn't do.
Billing
Plans, credits, top-ups and limits are all on Pricing, and one plan covers both the browser and the Mac app. Everything about your plan lives in Settings > Plan & billing; Manage billing there opens Stripe's page to cancel, switch plans, change your card or download invoices. Refund rules are in Billing, Subscriptions & Refunds.
Your account and your data
Export your data
Open Settings > Account > Export my data. DuckyHelper builds a ZIP file with your session transcripts, progress, tests, memory notes and files, and the pictures Ducky made, and shows a Download button when it's ready. It also emails you a link that works for 24 hours. You can export up to 3 times a day.
Delete your account
Open Settings > Account > Delete account… and type your account's email address to confirm. Deleting your account stops any paid plan right away, disconnects Google, and deletes your sessions, progress, memory and everything else Ducky kept. You can also ask by emailing support@duckyhelper.com from your account's email address. If you think you're owed a refund, ask before you delete; see Billing, Subscriptions & Refunds.
Uninstall the Mac app
Menu bar duck > Uninstall DuckyHelper… moves the app to the Trash, removes its settings and data on this Mac, turns off Launch at Login, gives the fn key back and asks macOS to forget its permissions. Your account and progress stay online, so signing in again later picks up where you left off. Uninstalling does not cancel a plan.
Updates
The Mac app downloads new versions in the background and installs them when you quit DuckyHelper, or right away with Restart to Update in the menu. You can also choose Check for Updates in the menu bar duck. The web app is always the newest version when you load the page. What changed in each Mac version is on the Changelog.

Frequently asked questions
What do I need to run DuckyHelper?
Either a browser or a Mac. The web app at app.duckyhelper.com runs on Chromebooks, Windows PCs and other computers. The Mac app needs Apple silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Both need a microphone and an internet connection.
Does DuckyHelper work on a Chromebook or a Windows PC?
Yes, in the browser at app.duckyhelper.com. Click Talk to Ducky, then Look at my screen to share a tab, a window or your screen. Drawing on your real screen, the fn key and Ducky clicking along with you need the Mac app.
How do I start talking to Ducky?
In a browser, click Talk to Ducky and a voice panel opens beside the page. On a Mac, press the fn key from any app: a small pill appears at the bottom of the screen and listens. Press fn again or click X to put it away.
Why does the Mac app need Screen Recording and Accessibility?
Screen Recording lets Ducky see what you are looking at, so it can help with the exact problem in front of you. Accessibility lets it follow your clicks and typing in tutorials, and click or type when it shows you how. It never acts in a password field.
Is DuckyHelper free?
There is a Free plan: 3 minutes of live voice once, then typing to Ducky every day, up to 60 messages a day, in the browser or the Mac app. Live voice is part of Plus, which is $20 a month; Pro is $200 a month and Unlimited is $200 a week. You can also buy credits from $5. See the pricing page for exact minutes.
Does Ducky record my voice or keep my screen?
No. Your voice goes straight to OpenAI to run the conversation and is not recorded or kept. Screen pictures go to OpenAI and are not kept unless you or Ducky save one to memory. Neither we nor OpenAI use your data to train AI models.
Can my child under 13 use DuckyHelper?
Only after a parent or guardian gives verifiable consent. When a child under 13 signs up, we ask only for their first name and a parent's email. The parent then reads what we would collect, makes a parent account and confirms with a small card check that is refunded.
How do I delete my account or download my data?
Open Settings > Account. Export my data builds a ZIP of your transcripts, progress, tests and files and emails you a link. Delete account… asks you to type your email, then stops any plan and deletes your data. You can also email support@duckyhelper.com.
