Which one should you pick?

Pick DuckyHelper if

  • You get stuck at random times and want help right now.
  • You want short help sessions often, not one long weekly lesson.
  • You want help on whatever app or site you are using, without a scheduled call.
  • Hourly tutoring is out of your budget.

Pick a human tutor if

  • You need someone to keep you on track week after week.
  • You want expert judgment on essays, applications or a test strategy.
  • You learn better with a person, or need in-person help.
  • You need help in person.

What a person does better

A good tutor notices when you are tired or discouraged, adjusts the plan, and holds you to it. They can read a whole essay and tell you what matters, and they bring years of seeing how students get stuck. An AI tutor, including DuckyHelper, can be wrong and does not know you the way a person does after months.

What DuckyHelper does better

DuckyHelper is there when you are, without scheduling. It sees your screen right away, draws on the exact spot, makes quizzes on the spot (flashcards too, in the Mac app), and remembers what you covered. It costs less per hour than most tutors.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Wyzant tutor cost?

Tutors on Wyzant set their own rates. Wyzant's blog says the average is between $35 and $60 an hour. Students also pay a service fee of 9% of the lesson cost. You pay after a lesson, and the first hour is covered by a Good Fit Guarantee.

Is an AI tutor as good as a human tutor?

Not for everything. A person is better at motivation, judgment and long-term planning. An AI tutor is better at being there instantly, at any hour, for less money. Many students use a person weekly and an AI between sessions.

Can a Wyzant tutor see my screen?

Yes. In Wyzant's online Learning Studio either side can share a whole screen, an app or a tab, and there is a shared whiteboard. Wyzant says iPads cannot screen share.

Is there free human tutoring?

Yes. Tutor.com says its tutoring is free through many schools, public libraries and employers, and for eligible military families. For the SAT, Schoolhouse.world runs free peer tutoring with College Board.
