Eddy, in the Mac app

A voice tutor that shows you

Eddy is the voice tutor in the DuckyHelper Mac app. Open the app's Eddy tab, press Talk to Eddy and ask out loud. Eddy answers out loud and shows you on its own desk: a blackboard that writes as it talks, pictures with labels, quick checks, and your homework file. It never sees your screen; Ducky, in the pill, helps right on your screen in any app.

Talk

Ask out loud.

Press Talk to Eddy, or Space when nothing else is selected, and ask the way you would ask a person. Eddy answers out loud with captions and shows things on its desk while it talks.

After your first talk, Eddy offers hands-free listening: just start talking, no button. Nothing is sent until you talk, it listens only while the Eddy tab is in front, and it ends after 20 seconds of quiet.

Customize Eddy: an animal (a giraffe, the default, or a white or yellow duck, a cow, a dog, a cat or a penguin), one of eight voices and a background. The avatar moves its mouth as it talks and waves, points and nods.

On paid plans, Settings, General, Fast mode: answers come faster, most of all the longer ones, and use more of your plan.

Talking out loud is a one-time welcome, then the button becomes Type to Eddy and you keep going in writing, every day.

Eddy and Ducky, in one Mac app

One app, one account, one plan, with the same lessons and progress. DuckyHelper for Mac needs Apple silicon and macOS 14 or later.

Teach

Built and trained to teach

Eddy is trained on 1,000,000+ tutoring examples and built on 100+ learning-science papers about how people learn. So it asks you to try, gives a hint before the answer, and checks your turn instead of doing the work for you.

  • A your-turn after the blackboard
  • Hints first on your homework file, and a short hint written beside the question
  • Lessons you can replay exactly as they happened, from History
