A tutor that sees your screen
In the DuckyHelper Mac app, press fn in any app and ask about what is in front of you: this graph, this question, this error. While the pill is open, Ducky keeps a small, current view of your screen, so it answers about the exact thing you mean and can point at it. Hold fn and command to point at something yourself. This is Ducky, in the pill; Eddy, in the Eddy tab, never sees your screen.

Say this, and it knows what you mean.
No copying, no screenshots, no describing the problem. Press fn and ask about it the way you would ask someone sitting next to you. Ducky reads what you are looking at, answers out loud and points at the part it is talking about.
The view it keeps is small and current. When it needs to read small print, it takes a sharper picture of that moment.
A PDF, a worksheet open in Safari or Chrome, a spreadsheet, your code editor, a video paused on a slide: if it is on your screen, you can ask about it.
Say remember this, and Ducky keeps a picture of what it just saw for the rest of the session, so you can bring it back later: bring back that error from before.
Hold fn and command. Point.
Sometimes it is easier to show than to say. Hold fn and command and move the mouse over the thing you mean: a glowing blue trail follows it and your words show beside it. Let go and Ducky gets a picture with your trail on it. Point at two things and ask how they connect. Showing on the thing itself, while it is explained, is the idea behind Draw it as you explain.

It can keep an eye on your work.
Want to work alone without getting stuck? Ask Ducky to watch. It keeps an eye on that one part of your screen and stays quiet, and the pill says Watching. When something slips, it speaks up right then: hold on, should that be times?
Watching is off until you ask for it, it covers only the area you asked about, and it ends when its time is up.
It looks again only when that area changes and settles, at most once every few seconds.
It looks only while the pill is open.
Seeing your screen is the whole point of the Mac app, so it is built to look as little as it can.
Only while the pill is open
Press fn again and it stops looking. Watching happens only when you ask.
Never your passwords
Nothing is captured while a password field is in focus.
Not its own windows
DuckyHelper's pill, cards and dashboard are never in the picture.
Your switch
macOS asks you for Screen Recording first, and you can turn it off in System Settings.
Set it up once. Ask anywhere.
The Mac app's first start walks you through four macOS switches. Each one is for one job.
- 1. Microphone
To hear you when you talk to Ducky.
- 2. Screen recording
To see what you are looking at, while the pill is open. Works after a restart of the app.
- 3. Accessibility
To follow your clicks and typing in tutorials, only while a tutorial is running.
- 4. Input monitoring
So the fn key opens Ducky from any app.
DuckyHelper for Mac needs Apple silicon and macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
Rather not share? Talk to Eddy.
In the Mac app's Eddy tab, Eddy teaches on its own desk instead of your screen: open your homework file there, or have Eddy open a web page with you. It never sees your screen.
How to use it
Frequently asked questions
Can an AI tutor see my screen?
The DuckyHelper Mac app can. Press fn in any app and Ducky keeps a small, current view of your screen while the pill is open, so you can ask about exactly what is in front of you. Eddy, in the app's Eddy tab, never sees your screen.
Is it watching my screen all the time?
No. Ducky looks only while the pill is open, and pressing fn again stops it. It watches an area over time only when you ask it to, and only that area. Nothing is captured while a password field is in focus, and DuckyHelper's own windows are never in the picture.
Does it work on a Chromebook or Windows?
Not right now: DuckyHelper is a Mac app (macOS 14 or later, Apple silicon). There is no Chromebook, Windows or web version. Seeing your screen needs the Mac app on a Mac with Apple silicon. Eddy explains what the Eddy tab does.
Is DuckyHelper the only tutor that sees your screen?
No. Other apps also look at your screen, Clicky for one. DuckyHelper is built to teach with what it sees: it points and draws on your screen, gives hints before answers and walks you through your own apps. DuckyHelper vs Clicky compares the two.
What does point at it yourself do?
Hold fn and command and move the mouse over the thing you mean. A blue trail follows the mouse and your words show beside it. When you let go, Ducky gets a picture with your trail drawn on it, so what is this means exactly that part.
Which permissions does it need, and why?
Four macOS switches: Microphone to hear you, Screen recording to see what you are looking at, Accessibility to follow your clicks in tutorials, and Input monitoring so fn works from any app. The setup window shows each with a checkmark, and the menu bar duck has Permissions to check them later.
