An AI language tutor you speak with
DuckyHelper is an AI language tutor you practice with out loud. Ask how to say a word and you get it in syllables, with the stress and the IPA, and hear it, slowly too. Then say it yourself and each word is scored. Ask grammar questions in plain English, quiz yourself, and keep the words you miss as flashcards that come back before you forget them. It is all in the DuckyHelper Mac app.
“How do you count to ten in Japanese?”
Eddy answers out loud. Ichi, ni, san, shi, go, roku, shichi, hachi, kyuu, juu. Then say them back, and hear which one you got wrong.

Hear it. Say it. Get it scored.
Ask how to say a word or a short phrase and a pronunciation card opens: the word in syllables with the stress marked, the IPA, and a button that says it, slowly if you like. Tap the mic and say it yourself. Each word you say is scored, so you know exactly which one to practice.
In the Eddy tab, Eddy shows the card on its desk. Ask Ducky and it opens in the pill, next to whatever you are reading.
Ask a grammar question out loud and Eddy answers out loud with captions, so you hear the language in a sentence, not only in a list.
Allow the microphone when your Mac asks during setup. If it is blocked later, the app says what to turn on in System Settings.
Speak, read, remember, write
Speak
Pronunciation cards that score what you say, word by word.
Read
Open a public-domain book or an article in Eddy's reader and press Listen: each word lights up as it is read. On a Mac, read along does it on your own screen.
Remember
The words you miss can be saved as flashcards that come back right before you would forget them.
Write (Mac app)
The typing coach puts grey letters at your caret for a new spelling, in any app, and marks a wrong letter red.

How to use it
Frequently asked questions
Can I practice speaking a language with an AI tutor?
Yes. Ask how to say a word and a pronunciation card shows it in syllables with the stress and IPA, says it, slowly too, and then scores each word when you say it back. You can also ask grammar questions out loud and hear the answer.
Which languages can I learn?
You can ask about words, phrases and grammar in the languages schools usually teach, and others too. How well the pronunciation score works can vary from one language to another, so listen to the model voice as well as the score.
Does talking out loud work on the Free plan?
The Free plan starts with a short live voice welcome, then you keep going by typing. Talking out loud after that is part of Plus and up. Pricing has the details.
Will it remember the words I keep missing?
Ask for flashcards of the words you miss and they come back right before you would forget them. Review them with Eddy, or in the pill, in the Mac app.
